Ginger- aka “The Ginger-Ninja”, aka “Ginger-vitas”.

Ginger is the fourth generation retriever to be in our family. Starting with her great grandmother Linnie the Labrador(passed at 15 years old) and George the Golden retriever (still alive at 16 years old this year) Ginger’s father was the lovely golden retriever Harbour and her mother was the Curly Goldador Lucy.

Ginger is our second Puppy culture raised breeder and is a perfect example of our program. She is intelligent, problems solving, observant but not reactive or confrontational. Ginger prefers to assess a situation before acting and defers to her owners for guidance if she is uncertain how to act. Ginger has so far proven herself an excellent mother, easily and politely communicating when she wishes to be let out to play with the other dogs or be returned to her puppies, even through her pregnancy, whelping and post birth period she has retained her puppy taught toileting training and hasn’t had a single accident inside-choosing instead a single polite bark at the outside door to indicate her needs.

Ginger loves to retrieve and enjoys playing fetch or just carrying toys around in her mouth, however she is happy to give up her toys if another dog wants to play with them (she doesn’t resource guard) but is clever enough to keep an eye on the surrendered toy so she can reclaim it again should it be abandoned. She loves to play chase and play-fight with her younger housemate the Murray river retriever Nutmeg and is frequently seen bounding through the orchard alongside the smaller brown dog.

Ginger has also retained the food based training we instilled in her as a puppy, she neither hoards nor gulps down her food (unlike most retrievers) preferring instead to chew it slowly and to simply walk away when she feels full (regardless of whether there is still food available to her)this along with her daily exercise has kept her in fine form.

Ginger has an extremely low hip and elbow score for a retriever and is clear of any and all DNA health diseases having also undergone a full Embark DNA health analysis which tests 236 genetic diseases and conditions.

Stud- Bear-Bio.

We welcomed Bear into our breeding program in 2022 acquiring him from another Labrador breeder from NSW where he was a star stud-such a star that she already had added several of his daughters to her breeding program and so to prevent the risk of accidental inbreeding and not wanting to retire such a wonderful stud from service he was sold into our program.

Since joining our program Bear has already fathered a lovely healthy litter of 10 puppies who were born earlier last year (February 2023) several of his daughter from that litter are already undergoing training to become assistance dogs two for special needs families and another for a Nurse to (once qualified) accompany her on hospital visits.

Bear himself is the quintessential Labrador, friendly, playful and a lover of food. For a professional stud Bear is an easy going boy who has no issue playing with a wide variety of dogs regardless of age, breed or sexual status (Bear isn’t a dominant boy). When he isn’t studding he spends his days with his Guardian family in Parham going for long beach walks and playing with his housemate Biscuit (an energetic and anxious Kelpie x Labrador) for whom he serves as an “emotional assistance dog”. Bear helps Biscuit with her anxiety while Biscuit’s high play drive helps keep Bear in tip top physical health.

Bear has hip and elbow scores below the national average for Labradors(the lower score the better) and a completely clear DNA health scan.
